At least drop the silly modal dialog. How often is a user able to decrypt the "error code" and take meaningful action? If you tell me that there is no internet connectivity, chances are that there really isn't any internet connection available, or I need to be disconnected somehow. At least fail the internet connection silently, with an unobtrusive visual perhaps, and retry the connection later without bugging the user about it, like how well-designed robust software should. This is basic modern UX - stop interrupting the user with things that he can't do anything about! People could write software to recover from all kinds of exceptions to send a man to the moon decades ago, and this thing fails to recover from a bloody loss of connectivity to do what it's meant to do - be a ******* simple whiteboard!

Yes, this is really annoying, please do something about it...

Same request, different reason. I choose anonymity. Microsoft doesn't get to indefinitely keep, monitor, data mine, monetize, or otherwise seize my creativity as yet another way of transforming my psyche into a corporate asset. Laughably overbroad EULAs aside, no corporation owns my soul.

For me it's basically unusable without an offline mode.

Yeah I don't understand why offline mode is not available! To check it's whiteboard (stored on the computer) or create a new one.

I'd be absolutely fine with the general online requirement, provided I can work with it offline, too. It's like with Outlook - I can open Outlook to check my calendar and even write emails offline but they will be sent only next time I'm online.
I use Whiteboard in training situations and workshops. And yes: in some departments and classrooms there is no Internet connection allowed - or there might even be technical problems. There are so many reasons for not having an internet connection... Everybody will understand that not ALL features will be availabe offline but please let us at least work with the basic features offline. -

This app is tied way too closely to collaboration among online teams and is pretty much useless as a whiteboard substitute for the individual user. I have no use for an app that requires cloud storage or an internet connection to run properly. I'm not leading agile scrums, I just want an app that I can use to jot down notes and lists and stuff, ideally, have sitting on my desktop so those notes are right in front of me ... you know, like an office whiteboard. Maybe I'll get back into software dev...

Yes, I agree that it is extraordinarily frustrating to have ongoing connectivity issues, even when I am connected to the internet. Are the Microsoft servers currently overloaded? Is that why there is such a huge issue with this right now. I am becoming very frustrated with the frequent loss of connectivity which causes the app to hang and do random movements of images on my screen. I have nearly lost my patience with this app at this point, although I initially thought that it was great. Please fix the connectivity issues soon before I give up on trying to use this app. I think that I will only attempt to use this app for a couple more days before I decide to go elsewhere because it is causing me to waste so much time.

very frustrating to want to jot down some ideas and be faced with an error message because I'm not connected to the internet. At least let me close it and have it stay closed - as is, the error message keeps appearing. Please just let us use our machines and this nice software without locking us on the internet. Thank you.

It makes no sense for single user use to require connectivity

dropping whiteboard until I can use it whenever I have an idea,
most of times meaning without internet access !!! -

Allow me to select where the offline files will be stored. I use it in GoToMeeting or WebEx to scribble ideas. I also have whiteboard that won't save. I get error 'We weren't able to save the latest version of this Whiteboard to the cloud. Please check your network and try again.' Needless to say my network is fine and another Whiteboard saves fine. Not sure why you force online storage.

Absolutely also if the internet connection drops out, it should stay alive locally and update when it is back.
